Deceiver Slim / Bonito Deceiver

Deceiver Slim - Bonito Deceiver

The Deceiver Slim is a classic deceiver dressed sparsely, providing for excellent action and translucency in the water. In the Northeast US, this type of fly is often referred to as a "Bonito Deceiver", and is an important pattern for atlantic bonito and false albacore, as well as striped bass. This fly is excellent for fishing anywhere in the world that fish prefer a sparsely dressed fly.

The "Deceiver Slim" is excellent for fish feeding on sand eels, needlefish, and other slim profile baitfish. When presenting this fly to atlantic bonito or false albacore, lead the fish with the cast, and try a steady, medium speed retrieve. Vary the speed of the retrieve if neccessary - sometimes slower is better. An excellent night fly for stripers when fished slowly with a steady retrieve. This fly is approximately 5 inches (13 cm) long. Tied by Dave Skok.
