Dixon's Devil Worm

Dixon's Devil Worm has become one of the classic "worm" imitation for "matching the hatch" during swarms of spawning cinderworms or palolo worms. These swarms may be encountered almost anywhere in saltwater locations worldwide, and there is some famous action that occurs each year in New England estuaries, as well as the Florida Keys. If you're lucky enough to run into fish feeding on swarming worms, you won't soon forget it! Be sure to have some good worm flies in your box for this action - the fish can be very picky at times when they get feeding on worms.

Dixon's Devil Worm measures approximately 2 1/4 inches long (6 cm); tied by master fly tier Dave Skok. Similar flies: Windram's Cinderworm.
Note: The hook that this fly is tied on (Tiemco 811S #2) may be a bit light for big tarpon - check out the Tarpon Worm on the Windram's Cinderworm page if you plan to be in areas where big tarpon are found - that fly is tied on a very stout hook.
