Tying the WINDRAM’S SPARKLING CRAB (page 2)

STEP 6
(Top View)
Coat the underbody with the Sand color E-Z Shape Sparkle Body. Work the material into the yarn with your fingers, then apply a liberal coat of the Sparkle Body. This can be worked into the final shape using a bodkin.

STEP 7
Strip five or six clumps of pheasant tail fibers from a good quality pheasant tail. Wetting these will help them stick together. Trim these to the appropriate length, then insert them into the wet Sparkle Body. When the Sparkle Body is cured, these will not fall out. Rubber legs can be used in place of pheasant tail fibers, but the pheasant tail has a more natural appearance.

STEP 8
Build up two bumps for the eyes using the Gold Bay Anchovy color of E-Z Shape Sparkle Body. This will begin to build up a nice high eyeform, like the eyes of the natural which are raised up on eye stalks. Add two drops of the Red Gill Sparkle Body for color, then add a pupil of the Pure Black color.

STEP 9
Add body highlights using the Crayfish color Sparkle Body, and the fly is complete! Other colors such as Saltwater Blue, Olive, and Pink Squid will also make nice highlights on this pattern. Please allow this fly to cure overnight before fishing. When the fly is dry, the sparkling quality of the fly becomes apparent.

STEP 10
The finished fly. The various colors of E-Z Shape Sparkle Body work together to create a subtly colored and very attractive crab pattern. Use your imagination to come up with variations on these ideas to make flies that will be effective in the areas that you plan to fish. Go Fishing!

Helpful hints:

Squeeze the bottle slowly to apply the material. Give the bottle a few shakes now and then during application. Since the Sparkle Body will shrink a little as it cures, coat your fly a little thicker than you think you need to. A bodkin will help to distribute the material once it is on the hook. Keep the bottle capped when not in use! This product will not harden in the bottle, but if you leave it uncapped too long, the tip may clog. If it does, simply grasp the tip with your fingers, or a pair of pliers, and pull it from the bottle. Push out any clog that has formed from the inside. Replace the tip, and you're back in business. Clean up E-Z Shape Sparkle Body with water while it is still wet. Once it's dry, it's permanent. Be careful! This is a non-toxic product, but once it has cured, E-Z Shape Sparkle Body may be stuck for good to your vise, bench, or your spouse's new dining room table!

Tight Lines, and good fishing.
